The Spiral Blend

A Somatic Map for Embodying Nonviolent Communication

Move from reaction toward resource, relationship, and compassionate action.

There is more than one place from which to meet this moment.

David Weinstock supporting an embodied relational practice

You know the language.
Can your body find it?

You may understand empathy, needs, observations, and honest expression. Yet in the heat of a real moment, the body can take over. Old patterns return, attention narrows, and the words you speak may not express what you truly mean.

The Spiral Blend is built for that gap.

It brings NVC off the page and into your living body—so self-connection, empathy, choice, and compassionate action become available when you need them most.

A living map

More than
a sequence

The Spiral Blend is not a rigid set of steps. It helps you recognize what a moment is asking for: body awareness, space, self-empathy, support, listening, honesty, shared strategy, or action.

Through repeated practice, the external map becomes an internal guidance system. You learn to pendulate among the Vantages with greater flexibility, care, and choice.

The learning journey

Four months of
guided practice

Across ten modules, you will move from noticing reaction toward greater resource, relationship, shared understanding, and compassionate action. Each module introduces one movement of the Spiral Blend and offers practices for bringing it into daily life.

01

Entering the Spiral Blend

Orientation, Centering & Pendulation

Meet the map. Establish S.U.R.F., embodied attention, resourcing, and moving between Vantages.

02

Come Home to the Body

Notice before acting

Recognize breath, sensation, emotion, posture, attention, and impulse before explaining or reacting.

03

Wind — Self-Regulation

Create enough space to choose

Use breath, movement, widened attention, and Shape Shifting to interrupt automatic reactions.

04

Core Strategies

Recognize what your body learned

Meet defending, withdrawing, appeasing, controlling, or freezing with curiosity and discover what each serves.

05

The Ground You Stand On

Listen for the need beneath it

Move toward embodied self-empathy and stand for what matters without standing against another.

06

Resourcing Our Relationships

Bring support around you

Receive support from people, places, ancestors, community, nature, and future generations.

07

Empathic Connection

Enter the Empathic Listening Field

Practice deep listening, timing, humility, empathic imagery, and the art of the empathic guess.

08

The Empathy–Honesty Pulse

Move between receiving and expressing

Work with relational rhythm, anger, boundaries, Common Ground, and protective force.

09

Mutual Strategies

Create possibilities that care for the whole

Bring inner and outer consensus into relationship, include concerns, and let next steps emerge.

10

Compassionate Action

Choose, speak, commit, and act

Integrate the Vantages through grounded choice, authentic expression, and embodied power.

Practices for a lifetime

Simple enough to use.
Deep enough to grow with you.

The modules introduce these practices in sequence. Over time, they become an interconnected body of learning you can return to in daily life.

Presence is not a personality trait.
It is a practice.

Embodiment develops through practice, reflection, relationship, and returning again and again. This program is held as a learning community—a place to experiment, make mistakes, receive support, and bring the work into daily life.

Limited to approximately 30 participants for meaningful connection and guided practice.

Where this comes from

Four streams.
One living practice.

04

Consensus & Community

Hearing every voice and practicing conflict, accountability, and repair.

David Weinstock has practiced Aikido and Nonviolent Communication for more than four decades. He trained with Marshall Rosenberg, studied somatic coaching with Stuart Heller and Dr. Richard Strozzi, embodied presence with Wendy Palmer, and Aikido within the lineage of Koichi Barrish. Since 1990, he has lived in an intentional community he co-founded—an ongoing laboratory for relationship, consensus, conflict, and repair.
